Hi, I’m Maren Anderson-Moore and I am the owner/operator of Kids Garden Charleston. I discovered a large need for childcare when trying to find a safe, stimulating, secure, and nourishing environment for my son. I saw an opportunity to combine my three greatest passions—education, the environment and holistic health—and help fellow parents in the process. Kids learn best through play and Kids Garden is a learning center designed just for that. It's a community space where parents can feel confident taking their kids, and where kids get excited about learning.

Originally from San Diego, Mrs. Carol had recently moved to Charleston and was applying to jobs working with children when Kids Garden found her. She loves everything about working here and seeing so many of the children grow and create their own personalities, and hearing the funny things they have to say. It’s hard to pick just one favorite memory, but the moment children started asking other teachers where Mrs. Carol was when she was home visiting her family made her feel like she was really making an impact on these children. You would be surprised to learn that Ms. Carol is an Irish twin! When she was younger, she always wanted to be a teacher and a mom when she grew up.

Kids Garden Preschool
Kids Garden's preschool is centered around children ages 3-5 years old, where we seamlessly blend Montessori and Reggio methods to cultivate holistic growth. Through play-based learning, children develop positive socialization, fine motor skills, and effective communication techniques. Our curriculum goes beyond basics, introducing math concepts, reading comprehension, and even yoga for physical and emotional well-being. Join us in fostering a love for learning and exploration in every child!

The qualifications vary by location, but generally, you will need a high school diploma or equivalent. A college degree is required for some positions, but many teachers begin working with us while they are still attending college. We require additional certifications like CPR + first aid training, and a background check.

Our Kids Garden team has extensive training to help a new Kids Garden employee. Our teachers also organize activities, help children with stations/work, and ensure the safety of all children in their care.
