The Reggio-Emilia philosophy is based on the “100 languages of children,” or the numerous ways in which children observe, learn, and express themselves.
We incorporate this idea at Kids Garden Summerville, SC by designing learning spaces where children are encouraged to express themselves through a hundred languages—be it paint, clay, or dance. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that learning is not confined to traditional methods but is an innovative blend of experiences that honor how children perceive and interact with the world.
The Reggio Emilia philosophy places importance on the community that surrounds children—parents, teachers, family members, peers.
At Kids Garden, we emphasize the importance of social collaboration by creating opportunities for children to learn from one another, understanding that knowledge is constructed through relationships and interactions.
This focus on community extends beyond the classroom, involving families and the wider community in the educational process.
A pivotal aspect of our Reggio Emilia-inspired approach is the ongoing observation and documentation of children's learning experiences.
This practice allows us to capture the fleeting moments of discovery and creativity, providing insights into the learning process and fostering a deeper understanding and respect for the child’s work. Through this reflective practice, we celebrate our learners' individual and collective journeys.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we view the environment as a vital component of the learning experience—a third teacher.
Our spaces are intentionally designed to provoke curiosity and inspire interaction. Each classroom is equipped with natural materials and resources that invite exploration and experimentation. This thoughtful design fosters a sense of belonging and encourages children to engage deeply with their learning.
Our curriculum also incorporates outdoor learning and exploration, encouraging children to interact with and learn from nature. This connection fosters an appreciation for the environment and teaches children the importance of sustainability and ecological responsibility from an early age.
In our Reggio Emilia-inspired setting, children are empowered to lead their learning adventures, making choices and pursuing projects that spark their interest.
This empowerment fosters a sense of agency and self-motivation, key components of the Reggio Emilia approach and essential qualities for lifelong learning.
At Kids Garden, we're committed to nurturing a deep love for learning, recognizing that education is a journey of discovery, wonder, and joy.
