About Kids Garden Houston
Welcome to Houston’s first Kids Garden location—the city’s only eco-friendly, drop-in creative arts learning center, where children learn and play in a natural and creative way!
Every aspect of our center’s design and programming is guided by green practices—from the living plants and natural wooden toys and playscape to the upcycled crafts and supplies—all intentionally curated into a healthy and enriching learning environment.
Our mission is to develop sound, well-rounded foundations of lifelong learning for children. Backed by Montessori and Reggio Emilia educational theories, our diverse and innovative curriculum encourages your child’s learning and creative expression, led strictly by their own passion and strengths.
Whether you’re in need of flexible Pre-K, afterschool care, or just an hour to yourself, Kids Garden is there to provide work-life balance for modern families on-the-go. Come learn, play, and grow with us in our garden!

Kimi Minor
Managing Owner
Ms. Kimi is excited to introduce Houston to Kids Garden! After a career in Human Resources, Kimi understands the stress and demands of a busy work and family schedule. She witnessed many working parents pause or forego their careers due to a lack of flexible childcare options, especially during the pandemic. As a new mother herself, Kimi recognized what she and other parents were missing – a modern drop-in concept, where children learn through creative arts and hands-on play. To Kimi, this meant no electronics, healthy food choices, and a safe, non-toxic environment. In our new work from home (or wherever!) environment, busy families need the flexibility and peace of mind that Kids Garden provides.
Kimi and her husband, Paul, both work in energy and have called Houston home since 2013. After Paul attended business school at Rice University, they moved into the Rice U area and determined what better place to plant their first Kids Garden than in the community they love.
Paul and Kimi welcomed their first child, Estelle, in May 2021.
Ashli Riggs
Director
Ms. Ashli is so excited to help plant the first Kids Garden seeds in the great state of Texas! Originally from San Antonio, Ashli moved to Houston after graduating from Abilene Christian University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She worked as a kindergarten, first grade and Reading Recovery teacher for 7 years in the greater Houston area public school system. During those years in the classroom, she fell in love with early childhood literacy and teaching first graders how to read and write. Ashli eventually became a Reading Recovery Teacher and absolutely loved watching her students develop a passion not only for reading, but also becoming life-long learners! After 7 years in the classroom, Ashli took a break to raise her own 2 children, which has been the most rewarding job she’s ever had. Now that both of her children are in school full-time, she’s excited to be a part of the Kid’s Garden team and can’t wait to help children learn, grow, and play in a natural and creative way!
